Microsoft FrontPage Instructions

If your domain name is fully transferred over to the server meaning that you can view the default index page via web browser, your ready to publish a fully operational website built with FrontPage. Please Note: Make sure you main introductory page in named "index.htm". If your main page is not, right click on the proper file and rename it "index.htm" all lowercase. Additional help about frontpage can be found on here on Microsoft's site.


1.

After your site has been built and your ready to publish, click on "File" then click on "Publish Web".

Type in your domain name in this format "http://yourdomain.com" then click "publish".

3.

Type in your login name and password then click "ok".

4.

After all the files have been transferred you should see this screen. Click on "view published website". You should see your website provided your main page is named "index.htm"


Once your website is published and your domain name has been transferred updating the your website via root web allows you to make changes to your website while connected to the server.


Modify a wwebsite in Frontpage via Root Web

1.

Click on "file" then click "Open web"

2.

Type in "http://www.yourdomain.com" in the "folder name:" box, then click "open"

3.

Type in your username and password then click "ok" You should then see your website click "open" and your ready to edit your website. Click on the html page you want to modify add text, insert links, add pictures, insert components and when your done save the modified pages and FrontPage will update your files on the server. When your done click "close" and FrontPage will ask you to save any changes that you made that have not been saved previously.

Adding forms to your site via FrontPage

When adding a frontpage component like a form to your website you should do this in ROOT WEB only. First you will need to be log in your site via root web and then click on the Insert > Component or Form > then the type of component you wish to add. See below for comparison.
